DIY: Natural yellow dye from Spanish broom

  • 2 cups of fresh broom flowers
  • 1 litre of water
  • cotton or linen fabric

Boil the flowers in water for about 30 minutes until the water turns golden-yellow.

Strain the liquid, submerge the dampened fabric and simmer for another twenty minutes.

Rinse in cold water and dry in the shade. Note: Spanish broom is toxic and is not used as food.
